This most valuable study is an outcome of the workshop held on the City of Indore which is so very useful for Architectural Planning, Affordable Housing and Urban Planning. The case of City of Indore is studied with reference to the prestigious Aga Khan Award winning projects for Architecture. These two projects are: Balkrishna Doshi Aranya Community Housing (1995) and Himanshu Parikh’s Slum Networking of Indore city (1998). The study prior to Workshop included the development of the city as has emerged during the last 4 decades. The book brings out the dynamics of the History, Economic Development, Social Fabrics, and further provides insights into today’s exercise of planning in the light of Smart City projects taken up by the Government of India.
